Rick Roblee, DDS, MS

Dr. Roblee practiced general restorative dentistry in Dallas, Texas, before going back to study graduate orthodontics at Baylor College of Dentistry. He is renowned for his work in esthetic dentistry, orthodontic techniques and interdisciplinary therapy. He has given more than 450 professional presentations in the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia and Japan. Dr. Roblee is the author of numerous publications and videos, including a textbook entitled Interdisciplinary Dentofacial Therapy: A Comprehensive Approach to Optimal Patient Care (Quintessence Publishing Co., Inc.). He has been an adjunct associate professor at Baylor College of Dentistry in both the restorative department and the orthodontic department, and is an active member in numerous prestigious dental organizations, including the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics, The American Academy of Restorative Dentistry and the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry. Dr. Roblee is a Diplomat of the American Board of Orthodontics and maintains a full-time practice in Fayetteville, Arkansas, with an emphasis on esthetic and interdisciplinary therapy.

Pinas Adar, MDT, CDT

Master Ceramist Pinhas Adar studied initially in Tel Aviv, Israel at Ort Yad Shapiro and then completed his internship with Mr. Willi Geller in Zurich, Switzerland.

He returned to Israel to complete his Masters degree in Dental Technology. He has over 36 years of experience in all phases of dental laboratory technology and has spent these years studying the secrets and principles of Smile Design and the impact of the psychological effects on consumers and has applied this knowledge in his own practice with extraordinary results.

He specializes in the many facets of porcelain esthetic restorations on both natural teeth and osseointegrated implants. For over 20 years he operated his own private dental laboratory within the multidisciplinary practice of (Team Atlanta) Ronald Goldstein, David Garber and Maurice and Henry Salama. He now has a private practice where he practices, teaches and does research also in Atlanta, Georgia USA.

Mr. Adar has lectured and presented live television programs in the United States, Europe, Israel, the Far East and Australia, as well as a multitude of programs nationally on the multidisciplinary approaches in optimizing esthetics in complex implant restorations. He has the unique privilege of working and teaching with many leaders in the field of esthetic/ cosmetic/implant dentistry in interdisciplinary settings in many different cultural backgrounds.

He is an Adjunct Clinical Professor at Tufts School of Dental Medicine. He has the distinction of being the first Dental ceramist to address an international meeting of the American College of Prosthodontists. He has contributed chapters in texts on posterior ceramic restorations and porcelain laminate veneers, published by Quintessence Publishing Co., Inc. He contributed text to a multi-disciplinary book, “The Art of the Smile” published by Quintessence Publishing Co., as well as numerous magazine articles on both implants as well as smile design and communication within the dental team. He has produced educational DVD’s for the dental industry on different topics entitled “Porcelain Laminate Veneers”, “Crowns from Vision to Reality”, and “Trial Smile.”

David Garber, DMD, BDS

Dr. David Garber is one of the internationally recognized multidisciplinary educators well-known as “Team Atlanta.” Dr. Garber is the recipient of “The Gordon J. Christensen Lecturer Recognition Award,” “The American College of Prosthodontics Distinguished Lecturer Award,” “The Northeastern Periodontal Society Isador Hirschfeld Award for Clinical Excellence,” “The Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontics Distinguished Lecturer Award,” and “The David Serson Medal of Research” and an honorary member of the Kois Center for Advancing Dentistry through Science.

He is a past president of the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry and has served on the boards of both the AAED and the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics.

Dr. Garber is dual trained clinician and professor in the Department of Periodontics as well as in the Department of Oral Rehabilitation at the Medical College of Georgia. He is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Prosthodontics at Louisiana State University and a Clinical Professor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry at the University of Texas in San Antonio.

He is past editor of the Journal of Esthetic Dentistry, co-author of Porcelain Laminate Veneers, Bleaching Teeth, Porcelain and Composite Inlays and Onlays, and Complete Dental Bleaching, and has published in excess of 60 articles and textbooks chapters.

Ronald Goldstein, DDS, FACD, FICD

Dr. Ronald Goldstein is currently Clinical Professor of Oral Rehabilitation at Georgia Regents University School of Dentistry, Augusta, Georgia, Adjunct Clinical Professor of Prosthodontics at Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine, and an Adjunct Professor of Restorative Dentistry at The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, Texas. Dr. Goldstein has presented continuing education courses at more than twenty universities and lectured at over 600 dental meetings worldwide. He is a contributor to ten published texts and author of the text Esthetics in Dentistry, published by PMPH. Maurice Salama, DMD

Dr. Maurice A. Salama completed his undergraduate studies at the State University of New York at Binghamton in 1985, where he received his BS in Biology. Dr. Salama received his DMD from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, where he later received his dual specialty certification in Orthodontics and Periodontics, as well as his implant training at the Branemark Center at Penn.

Dr. Salama is currently on the faculty of the Medical College of Georgia as Clinical Assistant Professor of Periodontics. Dr. Salama is a permanent member of the Scientific Committee of the world’s leading online Dental Education Website DENTALXP.com

Henry Salama, DMD

Dr. Henry Salama was born in Cairo, Egypt and spent his early years there before moving to Brooklyn, New York. He studied Biology at the State University of New York Binghamton and received his DMD from the University of Pennsylvania School.

Dr. Salama then pursued post-graduate specialties in Periodontics, Periodontal Prosthetics, and Fixed Prosthodontics as well as Implant Surgical Training and Implant Prosthetic Training. In addition, he is the former Director of Implant Surgery at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine.

Dr. Salama is the author of numerous scholarly publications, including several he co-authored in the field of inter-disciplinary treatment and implants. He is a sought-after lecturer and has spoken before dental conferences and seminars in th U.S., and Europse and Asia as well as Central and South America.

His current research activities focus on long-term stability of esthetic soft tissue enchancement techniques as well as immediate loading of root form implants.

Dr. Salama enjoys spending time playing basketball, scuba diving, and skiing. His wife, Shirley, is a general dentist who has also received her Ph.D. in Psychology from Rutgers University.

Gordon J. Christensen, DDS, MSD, PhD

Gordon J. Christensen is Founder and Director of Practical Clinical Courses (PCC) and Chief Executive Officer of Clinicians Report Foundation (CR) in Provo, Utah. Dr. Christensen has presented over 45,000 hours of continuing education throughout the world and has published many articles and books.

Gordon and Dr. Rella Christensen are co-founders of the non-profit CLINICIANS REPORT FOUNDATION (previously CRA), which Rella directed for many years. Since 1976, they have conducted research in all areas of dentistry and published the findings to the profession in the well-known CRA Newsletter now called CLINICIANS REPORT.

Gordon's degrees include: DDS, University of Southern California; MSD, University of Washington; PhD, University of Denver; and two honorary doctorates. Early in his career, Gordon helped initiate the University of Kentucky and University of Colorado dental schools and taught at the University of Washington. Gordon is a practicing prosthodontist in Provo, Utah. Gordon and Rella's sons are both dentists. William is a prosthodontist, and Michael is a general dentist. Their daughter, Carlene, is a teacher. He is a member of numerous professional organizations.

Jeff Brucia, DDS

Dr. Brucia is a graduate of the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry where he is currently an Assistant Professor of Dental Practice. He is practicing Aesthetic and Restorative dentistry full time in San Francisco, California.

Dr. Brucia is the Co-Director of the FACE institute where he chairs the department of Aesthetics and Adhesive Material Science. His focus is to build a partnership between gnathology, occlusion and adhesion. He is also on the faculty of several university based postgraduate programs in Aesthetic Dentistry. He is the 2011 recipient of the Gordon J. Christensen Lecturer Recognition Award. In 2010, Dr. Brucia was elected a fellow in the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry. He has also been selected by Dentistry Today as one of the top clinicians in dental continuing education today.

Dr. Brucia is past chair of the CDA Board of Managers, Scientific Sessions. As a published author of clinical articles, he has worked as a guest editor and a clinical reviewer for several journals. He has received Fellowships in the American and International College of Dentists, the Academy of Dentistry International, the Pierre Fauchard Academy and the Doctoral Degree with Delta Sigma Delta. He has worked as a developer and evaluator for new materials with several manufactures and laboratories.

John C. Kois, D.M.D., M.S.D. received his D.M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, School of Dental Medicine and Certificate in Periodontal Prosthodontics with a M.S.D. degree from the University of Washington, School of Dentistry. He maintains a private practice limited to Prosthodontics in Tacoma and Seattle and is an Affiliate Professor in the Graduate Restorative Program at the University of Washington. Dr. Kois continues to lecture nationally and internationally, is a reviewer for many journals and is the co-Editor in Chief for The Compendium of Continuing Education in Dentistry. Dr. Kois is the recipient of the 2002 Saul Schluger Memorial Award for Clinical Excellence in Diagnosis and Treatment Planning, and received a Lifetime Achievement Award from both the World Congress of Minimally Invasive Dentistry and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. Additionally, he is the recipient of the 2014 Dr. Thaddeus V. Weclew Award, which i s presented annually to a dedicated educator who embodies the spirit of comprehensive dental care. He is the past President of both the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry and American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, and a member of numerous other professional organizations.   AAED Master Reflections of the Day

Rade Paravina, DDS, MS, PhD

Rade D. Paravina, DDS, MS, PhD is a tenured Professor at the University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston and Director of Houston Center for Biomaterials and Biomimetics (HCBB). He also holds the Ralph C. Cooley, DDS Distinguished Professorship in Biomaterials, an endowment created by world-renowned heart surgeon Denton A. Cooley, MD. Dr. Paravina has authored/co-edited two books: Fundamentals of Color: Shade Matching and Communication in Esthetic Dentistry (Quintessence Publishing 2011) and Esthetic Color Training in Dentistry (Elsevier 2004), two software programs, one educational CD, and more than 200 other peer-reviewed publications.

Dr. Paravina designed/developed several dental products and tests. Together with Vita Zahnfabrik he designed two shade guides, Linearguide 3D Master and Bleachedguide 3D Master. The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston has executed licensing agreements with Vita Zahnfabrik dealing with commercialization of these two shade guides. He has developed Dental Color Matcher, a free online and offline educational and training program for esthetic dentistry, and the scientific protocol for evaluating “chameleon effect” of dental materials.

Dr. Paravina is Founder and Past President of the Society for Color and Appearance in Dentistry (SCAD). He is a recipient of the 2011 E. B. Clark Award, SCAD award for lifetime achievement, and the 2014 Jerome M. and Dorothy Schweitzer Research Award of the Greater New York Academy of Prosthodontics. He serves as editor of the Color and Appearance in Dentistry, a permanent bi-annual issue of the Journal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry, and editorial board member for the Journal of Dentistry, Clinical Oral Investigations, Journal of Prosthodontics, Journal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry, and the American Journal of Dentistry.

Dr. Paravina lectures nationally and internationally on various topics associated with color and appearance in esthetic dentistry.

Jean Wu, DDS

Dr. Jean Wu graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Science degree in 1990 and earned a Masters in Prosthodontics in 1994 from the University of Melbourne, Australia. She completed advanced training in Maxillofacial Prosthetics studying at the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Wu maintained a full time Prosthodontic private practice in Australia, and was a Prosthodontist at the Royal Children’s Hospital of Melbourne. She was also a distinguished lecturer and clinical instructor at the University of Melbourne and past president of the Australian Prosthodontic Society.

After relocating to the United States in 1999, Dr. Wu earned a DDS at the University of Tennessee and was an instructor and lecturer in the Restorative Dentistry Department. She graduated from the University of Tennessee with highest honors and awarded membership of Omicron Kappa Upsilon and Richard Doggett Dean and Margarite Taylor Dean Honorary Odontological Society for her outstanding dental achievements.

Dr. Wu is a member of the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association and the Orange County Dental Society. She was a Board member of the Orange County Dental Society in 2011 and Senior Delegate in 2012. Currently, Dr. Wu is Partner in the Sheets, Paquette and Wu Dental Practice and on faculty with the Newport Coast Oral Facial Institute, a non-profit international teaching and research center. She is also actively involved with several research projects on dental implants and materials, published articles in several dental journals, and Editor of the Pacific Coast Society for Prosthodontics.

Edward P. Allen, DDS, PhD

Dr. Allen has served as President of the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry and the American Academy of Periodontology Foundation. He is the recipient of the Master Clinician Award from the American Academy of Periodontology, the President’s Award for Excellence in Dental Education from the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, and the Saul Schluger Award for Excellence in Diagnosis and Treatment Planning. Robert Winter, DDS

Dr. Robert R. Winter is one of the most prolific prosthodontics and ceramists in the world. He has taught more than 500 didactic, clinical and technical courses in more than 40 countries. His comprehensive knowledge, skill and expertise have raised the profile of the Spear Winter Laboratory and added an invaluable component to Spear Education. His unique ability to see dentistry through the eyes of both practitioner and technician has enabled Spear Education dentists to better understand complex lab work and practical application of restorative dental techniques.

For the past 30 years he has maintained a private practice limited to prosthodontics as well as owning and operating his own dental laboratory. He has taught numerous clinical and technical courses worldwide.

Dr. Winter is also actively in research and product development pertaining to new dental materials, and was a co-developer of d.SIGN® dental ceramic, which is distributed worldwide. In 1991, he was the second recipient of the Gordon Christensen Lecturer Recognition Award for Excellence in Restorative Education, and in 2005, he was named Marquette University School of Dentistry Distinguished Alumni of the Year.

As the founder and director of the Center for Endodontics, British-born Dr. John West is recognized as one of world’s premier educators in clinical and interdisciplinary endodontics. John West received his DDS from the University of Washington where he is an Affiliate Professor. He earned his MSD in endodontics at Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine while being educated by the late Professor Herbert Schilder. John is a clinical instructor at Boston University where he has been awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award. He has presented unrivaled endodontic continuing education in all the world’s continents while maintaining a private practice at the Center for Endodontics in Tacoma, Washington. He mentors the world’s only stand-alone four day mini-endodontic residency program at the Interdisciplinary Dental Education Academy (IDEA) in San Francisco. John is a clinical visionary, an inventor, a teacher, an author, and an advocate for any dentist who wants to experience the successful possibilities of endodontics in his or her practice. Marcelo Calamita graduated in 1988 from the University of Sao Paulo, where he also obtained his certificate, MS, and PhD in prosthodontics. He worked as clinical instructor in the Department of Prosthodontics of the same university for 17 years. He was associate professor of prosthodontics at University Braz Cubas and University of Guarulhos, both in Sao Paulo. Marcelo Calamita is the former president of the Brazilian Academy of Esthetic Dentistry and currently he is the president of Brazilian Society of Esthetic Dentistry. Dr. Calamita was editor-in-chief of the Dental Press Brazilian Journal of Esthetics and currently serves on the editorial board of the International Journal of Periodontics and Restorative Dentistry and International Journal of Esthetic Dentistry, Brazilian editions. In addition, he has lectured nationally and internationally, written numerous scientific publications and chapters in textbooks on treatment planning, implants, and esthetic dentistry. Baldwin Marchack is a 1971 graduate of the Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC. In 1989 he received his
MBA from the Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA. Dr Marchack is a Fellow of the
American College of Dentists, a Fellow of the International College of Dentists, and a Fellow of the Pierre
Fauchard Academy. He is a member of the Academy of Prosthodontics, the International College of
Prosthodontists and the Academy of Osseointegration, and he is past-president of the American
Prosthodontic Society, past-president of the Pacific Coast Society for Prosthodontics, past-president of
the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry and past-president of the Osseointegration Study Club of
Southern California. Dr Marchack is an Honorary Member of the American College of Prosthodontists.
He serves on the Board of Councilors of the Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC, and is President-Elect of
the Executive Council of the International Federation of Esthetic Dentistry (IFED). Dr Marchack is the
Course Director for the USC Esthetic Dentistry Training Program in Shanghai, China. He is currently the
Chair of the Editorial Council for the Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, and he maintains a private practice in Pasadena, California.

Dr. Chu, received his undergraduate degree from Brown University and his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Pennsylvania. He obtained his Master’s of Science degree in Restorative Dentistry and completed the Advanced Education Program in Fixed Prosthodontics at the University of Washington, in Seattle. Dr. Chu subsequently became a board-certified dental technician in ceramics and obtained a Master’s degree in Dental Technology from the New York University College of Dentistry (NYUCD).

He has an academic appointment as Adjunct Clinical Professor in the departments of Periodontology, Prosthodontics, and Implant Dentistry at New York University College of Dentistry.

He is on the editorial review board of several peer-reviewed dental journals and is the recipient of several awards from dental organizations. Dennis P. Tarnow, DDS

Dennis P. Tarnow is currently Clinical Professor of Periodontology and Director of Implant Education at Columbia School of Dental Medicine. He is the former Professor and Chairman of the Department of Periodontology and Implant Dentistry at New York University College of Dentistry. Dr. Tarnow has a certificate in Periodontics and Prosthodontics and is a Diplomat of the American Board of Periodontology. He is a recipient of the Master Clinician Award from the American Academy of Periodontology, Teacher of the Year Award from New York University and Distinguished Lecturer Award from the American College of Prosthodontists in 2015. Frank Spear, DDS, MSD

As the founder and director of Spear Education, Dr. Spear continues to be recognized as one of the premier educators in esthetic and restorative dentistry in the world today. Dr. Spear earned his dental degree from the University of Washington in 1979, and an MSD in periodontal prosthodontics ni 1982, also from the University of Washington. Dr. Spear is an Affiliate Professor in the graduate prosthodontics program at the University of Washington. He and long time practice partner Dr. Greggory Kinzer maintain a private practice in Seattle limited to esthetics and fixed prosthodontics.

In addition to his faculty and practice responsibilities, Dr. Spear maintains a busy lecture schedule, presenting dental continuing education in North America, Europe and Asia. He has been recoginized by numerous associations for his contributions to dentistry. In 1993, he was awwarded the Christensen Award for Excellence in Restorative Education from the Chicago Dental Society. In 1995, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry presented him with a special award for having adavanced the art and science of cosmetic dentistry in the United States. In 1996, he becamse the third recipient, after Dr. Morton Amsterdam and Dr. Walter Cohen, to receive the Saul Schluger Memorial Award for Excellence in Diagnosis and Treatment Planning from the Seattle Study Club. He earned the 2004 Distinguished Alumnus Award from Pacific Lutheran University.

Dr. Spear’s memberships include the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry, the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry, the American College of Prosthodontists, the Pierre Fauchard Academy and the International College of Dentists. Dr. Spear is a former President of the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry.
